History
W.B. Hill, Inc. was founded by Wilson B. and Bertha R. Hill around 1910 in Springfield, Massachusetts as a general trucking company hauling primarily for government construction projects. The company was passed on to Erwin D. (Butch) and Dorothy Hill, Wilson and Bertha's son and daughter in the early 1950's. In 1965, W.B. Hill outgrew its Springfield location and moved to East Longmeadow, MA. During the late 80's and early 90's, the business was inherited by Butch and Dorothy-Ann’s Children: Erwin Jr., Linda, Bob, and Terre. Now that daughters, nieces and nephews are working in the business, the probability of another succession looks very good.
Facility & Equipment
Our newest building addition, built in 2003, has given us a total of 23,000 ft/sq of shop space. The shop is equipped with a 100- ton press brake, 10 ft. plate shear, 60- ton ironworker, 60-ton truck lift, 2 manderine pipe benders, and - our newest addition - a waterjet cutter. Though we specialize in tanks, our capabilities include engine diagnosis and repair as well as full chassis repair, air conditioning, brakes and tires. We are an “R” stamp certified repair shop for coded tank vessels and hold the DOT Registered Inspector Number CT-1456, which enables us to perform federal tank testing and repairs. Additionally, we are also licensed in the state of Connecticut as a dealer and repairer of metering devices and licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a State Inspection Station.
Our Philosophy
Any Business is only as good as the sum of its personnel, and we take pride in the quality of men and women that work together to make W.B. Hill what it is today and what it will become in the next hundred years.
At W.B.Hill, our motto is:
